Three members of Dakota Valley’s Cross Country Team finished in the top 10 individually at the South Dakota Class 11A state cross country meet last Saturday in Sioux Falls Yankton Trail Park.
According to results released by the South Dakota High School Athletic Association, Sophia Redler, Jack Brown and Joe Cross posted top 10 individual finishes. The Dakota Valley boys placed sixth as a team while the girls placed 13th.
Girls’ Meet
Redler, a junior, posted a time of 18:44.68 to finish sixth in the girls’ meet. Other members of the Panthers team including their places and times were Ella Otten, 32nd, (19:56.57); Alex McCullough, 83rd, (21:25.52); Jaycie Rush, 114th, (22:42.05); and Rachel Hersom, 120th, (23:20.31).
Sioux Falls Christian won the Class 11A girls’ title. The top individual runner was Corinne Braun from Sioux Falls Christian with a time of 18:02.59
Boys’ Meet
Brown, a junior, finished seventh in the boys’ meet with a time of 16:02.14. His DV Panther senior teammate, Cross was close behind finishing ninth with a time of 16:12.64.
Other Panther runners, including their places and times, were Jamison Gould, 30th, (17:10.73); Michael Green, 59th, (17:49.71); Geoff Nelson, 83rd, (18:35.78); and Brayden Karkalik, 84th (18:36.77).
The winner of the Class 11A boy’s team title was Hill City. Taking individual honors was Luke Rupert of Hill City who posted a time of 18:26.51.
