Siouxland Observed #7: Where is this old fellow?

He’s leaning a little bit, but not too much. You can see right into his heart, by golly. Word is he might be scheduled for a bypass, but he isn’t talking. He doesn’t want to get anyone too riled up — at least not any more than they already are. After all, it’s Thanksgiving. He says even with a bypass he’ll do just fine. In fact, Ol’ Red says the doctors tell him he will probably be feeling better. He might even take up water skiing next summer.

Ol’ Red says you should know by now where he is at. You at least shouldn’t be buffaloed by any of the hints that have been dropped.

Leave your answer below. You’ve got all weekend to figure this one out. (Hint: Dan Haggerty would know it, even after his beard was on fire.)

Good luck!

ANSWER: The barn is on the north side of Northshore Drive in McCook Lake, just a bit west of the exit/entry to I-29. I don’t know who owns the barn. It sits back off the road a little bit.

As for the hints: you shouldn’t be buffaloed by it if you are on the way to look at the bison herd near Wynstone down the road a ways. Dan Haggerty was the actor who played Grizzly Adams (as in Adams Nature Center) in The Life and Times of Grizzly Adams on TV back in the 1970s. According to Wikipedia, at a restaurant in 1977, a patron with a flaming cocktail set Haggerty’s beard on fire. As he attempted to extinguish the flames, Haggerty received third-degree burns on his arms.
