• After an inmate being held for Clay County in the Minnehaha County Jail was taken to the hospital in Sioux Falls, Clay County deputies and jail staff arranged for rotating, around-the-clock guard duty to travel to Sioux Falls in shifts to guard the inmate there throughout the weekend.

• A deputy responded to a report of three men in a stalled vehicle just across the Missouri River in Dixon County, Nebraska. The men had summoned a tow but the wait was expected to be long. The men were transported to a Vermillion business to stay warm and to wait for their tow there.

• The school resource officer checked the status of a student who had not been in school. Contact was made with the student’s mother and guidance was given to resolve transportation and communication issues to help resolve the truancy problem.

The man was found present and safe with family present. It was determined that there wasn’t cause for involuntary mental health intervention at that time.

• A caller reported receiving a call from a person claiming to be a federal agent stating he was wanted and would be arrested for crimes in another state. A deputy verified the person wasn’t wanted and that the call was a scam attempt. No money or information was lost in this incident.

The sheriff responded and found a delivery van and driver who was stuck in the farm field after following his GPS directions into the field.
