Hint: It was for sale, but it’s too late now. Someone beat you to it earlier this year.

Yeah, I know, it’s been a while since I’ve posted a “Siouxland Observed” feature – two months almost to the day. Let’s see if we can get more folks participating in this photo guessing game with two pictures of a popular Union County eating spot until it closed a couple of years ago.
The restaurant/lounge sat on the outskirts of one of our population centers. It had good cow, chicken, fish, and a salad bar. As I recall I could even find the advertising manager of the Hawarden/Elk Point newspapers sitting in the bar having a drink or two on a Saturday night. You could bring your entire family there for a good meal and run into other farm families or those from nearby towns you knew.
Now I’m not sure if those of you from Dakota Dunes, Wynstone or Whispering Creek would have known about this place back when it was open. Unless of course, you were friends with a Union County Commissioner or public official who might want to show off a little. Or return a favor. Not that I’m implying any favors are ever curried or palms greased. Not in Union County.
But You may have heard about it through friends. Word about good places to eat gets around that way.
Anyhow, this was a pretty good place to eat in its time. Now that it’s been sold, perhaps the new owners can turn it into another food place.
Put your guess as to the location and name of the former business in the comment section below. And good luck.

Not sure what the name was, but I think it was a steakhouse in Alcester, SD…
