EDITOR’S NOTE:

I am happy to provide our readers with the first-ever Union County Sheriff’s Activity Log. It was printed on July 23rd. Although the sheriff didn’t give any notification of the existence of the log, as publisher and editor of the Siouxland Observer, I am pleased to discover that Sheriff Jim Prouty is now offering the log to the public. Although I’d like to see a little bit more detail about the calls, like the Clay County Sheriff’s Office has, I am nonetheless happy for this much information. It is at least a first step towards more transparency by the Union County Sheriff and I’m certain it is much appreciated by the readers of the Observer.

Now, if we can get North Sioux City Police Police Chief Rich Headid to do the same thing we’ll really be rolling in the right direction.
