The continuing saga of NSC City Hall: Parts 2.1 and 2.2

The North Sioux City Council met to canvass election votes, revealing wrong dates for plat tracts and absentee voter irregularities. The appointment of a new city alderman was delayed, and the finalization of a former city administrator’s severance package was approved. Fatal crash Saturday near Gayville

A 45-year-old man died Saturday evening in a two-vehicle crash in Yankton County.

The names of the people involved have not been released pending notification of family members.

According to a press release from the SD Department of Public Safety, preliminary crash information indicates a Ford van was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of SD Highway 50 near Gayville. At the same time, a Chevrolet Tahoe was traveling westbound in the westbound lanes of Highway 50. The vehicles crashed head-on. Continue reading Fatal crash Saturday near Gayville

The dog ate my farm bill and other Republican excuses

The new five-year federal farm program, which was due on the president’s desk no later than Sept.  30, 2023, is missing. Republicans, who run the U.S. House of Representatives, don’t have a good answer about why it is missing.

In fact, the explanation for what happened to it is little more than a reworking of the age-old “the dog ate my homework” excuse used to “explain” missing arithmetic homework assignments by school kids for years. Continue reading The dog ate my farm bill and other Republican excuses
