Minnesota man arrested near Beresford for second DUI

Nahim Antunez, a 57-year-old from Minnesota, was arrested on December 20 for multiple charges including DUI, open container, and driving under revocation. Officer Koch pulled him over for erratic driving, finding him impaired with a blood alcohol level of 0.089%. Antunez has two prior DUI offenses, escalating potential charges. Clay County Sheriff’s Office Incident Report for 3/19 – 4/13/2024

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office in South Dakota responded to various incidents, including car accidents, inmate transfers, and mental health crises. Deputies also handled vandalism, theft, and traffic violations. They assisted with medical emergencies, investigated suspicious activity, and provided support for truant students. Snow emergencies declared in North Sioux City and Sioux City

The National Weather Service is placed our area under a winter storm warning effective at midnight tonight. In anticipation of the storm, some Siouxland communities are declaring snow emergencies.

We are listing those snow emergencies here as they come in.

Bypass meeting draws plenty of interest from area residents and landowners

A public meeting sponsored by the South Dakota Department of Transportation (SDDOT), City of North Sioux City and Stockwell Engineers of Sioux Falls drew lots of interest Monday night at the North Sioux City Fire Hall. At least 85 southern Union County residents and landowners attended the meeting to get information on the project that will construct a new road that will bypass Northshore Drive by McCook Lake.

People were able to talk one-on-one to engineers from Stockwell Engineers as well as consulting engineers from Felsburg, Holt & Ullevig who are specialists in transportation planning, and WSB, another engineering firm consulting on the project. Public meeting is Monday night for Northshore Drive bypass project

Persons interested in the proposed Northshore Drive Bypass Project in the McCook Lake area should note there is a meeting they may want to attend about the project on Monday evening.
