A 40-year-old Beresford man, Cephas Joseph Wood, was arrested for Aggravated Domestic Assault after an argument with his girlfriend escalated. The victim reported he choked her during the confrontation. Wood has since been indicted and is held on a $5,000 bond, with his next court appearance scheduled for January 6, 2025. Matt Vanderpool, facing serious sexual offense charges, obtained a new attorney as his trial date was rescheduled. Accused of assaulting a minor, he pleaded not guilty and changed lawyers. For instance: A caller reported a stray pig and dog on a rural road near Meckling. A deputy responded to a report of a dog at a rural residence biting a bicyclist. A deputy assisted Vermillion police officers with a response to a fight outside of a downtown bar in Vermillion.
Also, the School Resource Officer investigated a report of a high school student in Vermillion having possession of a vape device in school. A caller reported suspicious activity involving two people in a car on a dead-end rural road.
